The statistics on cancer in dogs is very alarming, and in fact, the current rate of cancer is higher in dogs than it is in humans.
According to the National Canine Cancer Foundation, 1 in 3 dogs will contract cancer in their lifetime, and this number increases to 1 in 2 if the dog is more than 10 years of age!
For prevention and better disease management, it is important to change your dog's internal environment or "change the terrain" and one way this can be achieved is through proper nutrition. | | |

Diet is the one of the most important - and controllable - of the environmental changes. By feeding carefully selected amounts of specific nutrients, we open the door to a cascade of changes that ultimately can influence health status. Steven Hannah, PhD, Molecular Nutrition Group at the Nestle Purina Research Center |
Many of today's pet ailments are caused by incorrect feeding. This often results in obesity, leading to arthritis, heart disease, diabetes, etc. A good balanced diet is the best way to ensure your pet's health.
Some people feel like they are saving money by buying the cheapest dog food on the market. The truth is, the better food you feed your dog, the less visits you will have to make to your veterinarian. Eating dog food that contains poor ingredients can make your dog unhealthy, shorten their life span, make their skin and coat look dull, and have your dog looking and feeling older than they are.
The opinions about canine nutrition vary among veterinarians, breeders, trainers and other dog owners. Bottom line: the experts don’t always agree on the best type of dog foods because there is not just one answer.
Ultimately, you are the one who needs to decide what food best suits your dog. Do plenty of research so you can make an informed decision.
